De 1713 à 1763, après le traité d’Utrecht, l’archipel passe sous administration britannique. Plusieurs toponymes sont alors anglicisés ou apparaissent dans les cartes anglaises. Certains patronymes français persistent grâce aux pêcheurs français toujours présents dans la région.
